THE "WIN" HOUSE
The "WIN" House is an eight-bed transitional living home located in Ocala, Florida and is dedicated to young women who are aging out of foster care, are court ordered or homeless. The structure of the WIN House is dorm-style, but a home-like environment in which residents share a room with 2-4 residents at a time.
To assist at-risk young women with transitioning from supervised living arrangements to independent lifestyles.
We aim to provide a safe haven for young women to feel empowered, purposeful and worthy of success through our WINning Life Skills Program which prepares them to be productive members of society.
The purpose of this initiative is to provide residents with the tools necessary to ensure personal and professional success during and after their residency. Life Skills Initiatives includes topics related to interpersonal and social skills, financial literacy, home economics, health and wellness, organizational skills, career readiness and communication and conflict resolution.
Our residents are all provided with unique, individualized case plans to assist them in developing and identifying their goals, interventions and outcomes.
Residents are assigned mentors to provide guidance and support all while developing a long-lasting mentor-mentee relationship.
Volunteerism and community outreach is a major part and requirement of all of our residents. It includes the opportunity to participate in community events or activities within the home to give back to those who are less fortunate. Participants will have the opportunity to earn community service hours and receive special recognition based on the number of hours contributed. Participants will be able to choose volunteer opportunities which may interest them but are required to participate in at least two opportunities per year.
In order to be admitted to the WIN House, you must be a woman between the age of 18-25 and referred by a foster care program, court ordered by a Judge or be homeless. Being admitted as a homeless resident requires additional processing requirements. When referred by a foster care agency or court system, an application must be submitted by the referring source with the new resident’s information and homeless applicants must initiate the admissions process by contacting personnel at The WIN House by email or phone to setup a phone interview. The WIN House will do its best to accept all new applicants. However, applicants may be placed on a waiting list in the event there is no bed available. Once the applicant’s information is reviewed by admissions, the referring source will be notified of the admissions decisions. If an applicant is placed on a waiting list, they will be notified once a bed is available. Incomplete applications will not be processed.
Once an applicant has been approved for admittance to the home, they will receive an acceptance letter with a move in date along with a contract for occupancy and a rules and responsibilities agreement which must be completed before the actual move in date. Length of residency will be determined on a case by case basis. While all new applications will be considered from all sources, The WIN House reserves all rights to approve or deny any new resident application.
