THE "WIN" HOUSE

The "WIN" House is an eight-bed transitional living home located in Ocala, Florida and is dedicated to young women who have aged out of the foster care system. The structure of the WIN House is dorm-style, but a home-like environment in which residents share a room with 2-3 residents at a time.

To assist at-risk young women with transitioning from supervised living arrangements to independent lifestyles.

VISION

We aim to provide a safe haven for young women to feel empowered, purposeful and worthy of success through our WINning Life Skills Program which prepares them to be productive members of society.

The purpose of this initiative is to provide residents with the tools necessary to ensure personal and professional success during and after their residency. Life Skills Initiatives includes topics related to interpersonal and social skills, financial literacy, home economics, health and wellness, organizational skills, career readiness and communication and conflict resolution.

CHARITABLE GIVING

​

Volunteerism and community outreach is a major part and requirement of all of our residents. It includes the opportunity to participate in community events or activities within the home to give back to those who are less fortunate. Participants will have the opportunity to earn community service hours and receive special recognition based on the number of hours contributed. Participants will be able to choose volunteer opportunities which may interest them but are required to participate in at least two opportunities per year.

ADMISSIONS

To be admitted to the WIN House, you must be a young woman between the age of 18-19 and be referred by a foster care agency. Applications must be submitted by the referring agency with the new resident’s information to initiate the admissions process. Referring agency must assist the youth in scheduling an interview their application has been accepted. The WIN House will do its best to accept all new applicants. However, applicants may be placed on a waiting list in the event there is no bed available. If an applicant is placed on a waiting list, they will be notified once a bed is available. Incomplete applications will not be processed.

 

Once an applicant has been approved for admittance to the home, they will receive an acceptance letter with a move in date along with a contract for occupancy and a rules and responsibilities agreement which must be completed before the actual move in date. Length of residency will be determined on a case-by-case basis. The WIN House reserves all rights to approve or deny any new resident application.

We are currently seeking volunteers to assist with the day to day activities and functions of the home.

We are currently accepting interns seeking to gain experience as a case manager, therapist, counselor or social worker.
